Deadly Heat Waves are Becoming More Frequent in California
The United States has made history in the past few years due to certain areas reaching record high temperatures. Heat waves throughout various cities have become a normal occurrence and many people wonder when it will end. California has been hit hard in many different ways and there seems to be no end in the near future for California heat waves. High humidity levels and even higher temperatures have led to the deaths of both humans and animals. Read more about Global Warming Insurance
Researchers have joined together to research the California heat waves and attempt to determine the exact cause of these record temperatures. Scientists have begun by going on various past heat wave trends in order to determine if they can see a pattern. It seems that some regions may be more prone to higher temperatures and resulting heat waves. In the past California heat waves were relatively unheard of but they have continued to increase in number and severity. Nighttime California heat waves have seen unusually high numbers. Nighttime heat waves are not as common as day time heat waves and they have been the source of many of the California heat waves. Heat waves where the weather is very humid and extremely hot at night are referred to as nighttime heat waves.
In humid environments the air does not get a chance to cool down as it normally does when the environment is dry. During the California heat waves the area experienced record high humidity numbers which caused the heat wave to linger on even longer. The California heat waves were even worse because the hot and uncomfortable nights generally gave way to even hotter and more uncomfortable days. Researchers have discovered that the California heat waves are becoming more severe because the changing weather patterns have resulted in more humidity in the area. Increasing levels of humidity as stated before cause the California heat waves to be more severe and last longer. Weather patterns have shown that the California heat waves may be a result of changes in the Earth’s climate and the Pacific Ocean.
There has been a noticeable increase in the reported surface temperatures of the Pacific Ocean. This noticeable increase is the results of other negative environmental changes that are mostly due to activities of the humans. The increased temperature led to higher levels of humidity which has been linked to the California heat waves. Increased humidity is one of the main ingredients in any heat wave and similar to the California heat waves, it is generally the factor that determines how long the hot weather will hang around.
Researchers have determined that California heat waves will likely continue because the climate in that area continues to change due to changes in the environment. California heat waves are a definite problem for that region. People in the area are not used to the high temperatures and the unusual weather has resulted in several deaths. In addition the California heat waves affected the agricultural markets as well as the put a strain on the energy and the water industry. As scientists continue to learn more and more about these weather occurrences the California heat waves continue to wreak havoc.
