Indianapolis Provides Energy Efficiency Incentives

<a href=energy efficiency” width=”114″ height=”120″ />As per recent announcements from the Obama administration, Indianapolis is going to receive $8 million in federal stimulation funds for energy efficiency and preservation projects. This is part of an aggregate of $42 million going away to the state and to Hoosier cities and counties for projects that bring down overall energy usage and fossil fuel discharges.

Actions the money can backup include energy audits and making residential and commercial buildings more energy-efficient, bettering building codes and inspections, and creating financial incentive schemes for energy-efficiency improvements.

It also can go for transportation system programs that economize energy and projects that bring down or capture greenhouse gas emissions from landfills, and to make traffic signals and street lights more energy-efficient.

Energy Efficiency & Demand Response ProgramsThe state energy office will get $14 million. Hamilton County will get $362,400. Hendricks County will get $546,900.

The state and local governments have to account on the number of jobs they produce through the program and the quantity of energy saved, greenhouse gas emissions reduced and other measurements.

The money is besides the more than $200 million in stimulus funds already going to Indiana for weatherization projects and the federally funded State Energy Program.
