The Biggest Electric Vehicle Deal Ever

Commercialization of Alternative Fuel Vehicles The Electric Transportation Engineering Corporation (eTec), based in Scottsdale, Arizona, was given a nearly $100 million deal by the United States Department of Energy on October 1st of 2009 for the company to develop what will be the single greatest deployment of electric vehicles, and their needed re-charging infrastructure, in history. The eTec company is a known leader in the R&D and the field testing for advanced transportation and energy systems, and has more than 20 years of electric transportation experience.

The contract stipulates that eTec will put in place 10,950 Level 2 (220V) chargers, 260 Level 3 fast-chargers, and 4700 Nissan LEAF zero-emission electric vehicles. The states in which these will be deployed are Arizona, California, Oregon, Tennessee, and Washington state.
