Voonami, Inc. Opens a Super Green Data Center

blog voonami 300x203 Voonami, Inc. Opens a Super Green Data CenterVoonami, Inc. has unveiled one of the most energy efficient data centers in the United States.  Voonami says its new giant data center will reduce energy costs by 80% compared to other data centers making it the greenest in the state of Utah, and one that will rival Google’s most efficient data centers.

The state-of-the-art facility will actually use dated technology to cool itself and trim its energy consumption.  The catalyst for Voonami’s energy efficient data center is a giant evaporative cooler, which has been used in dry climates since the early 20th Century.

Opens a Super Green Data CenterAs a result of Utah’s cold climate, the cooling system will be able to cool the data center for free by pumping cool air through the floor from coolers located outside.  Plastic sheeting placed over the floor will prevent the infusion of cool air running over the electronic equipment from mixing with the air that has been warmed.

Voonami designed the data center to serve the growing market for green data centers.  And, as Voonami’s President Ben Bush highlights, the company is not only appealing to new market, but it is also saving itself large amounts of money:  “When you talk about an 80 percent difference in power, it’s a big difference.  We’re paying 80 percent lass than the competition.”
